Fahrenheit! Wind chill minus nine. (In centigrade: -12 and -23, respectively.) But if you could look around the cloud of your breath, the air was as clear as I've ever seen it. On the B train going across the Manhattan Bridge, I saw more of New York Harbor than I've ever seen before - not just Lady Liberty, but Governor's Island, Staten Island, shipyards in New Jersey, all so clear it seemed like they were right next to and beside her. Didn't have the wit to have my camera ready, but it wasn't a particularly pretty view in any case - too cluttered!
