Flowing together
Took the free water taxi from Wall Street to the new IKEA in Red Hook today with my friend J, and got a new perspective on the bridges across the East River - and two of the four artificial waterfalls which Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson has put up this summer. These two are actually far apart, one under the Brooklyn-side pylon of the Brooklyn Bridge, the other on a wharf north of the Manhattan side of the Manhattan Bridge (which is why you see both the brown Brooklyn and blue Manhattan bridges above the falls, as if they were parts of the same bridge!). Click on the picture above to see both waterfalls, and both bridges - and the Williamsburg Bridge, too, for good measure - in one broad panorama.
