That dove is still outside my window, at least two weeks on. She's persisted through some pretty nasty weather - whatever its other merits as a nesting site, a fire escape offers no shelter from above. I've been amazed each day to find her still there. What devotion.But does it really take that long to hatch eggs?
Perhaps not, I learned today. I raised the screen to take a picture of her covered in pearling raindrops and she fluttered briefly away, revealing... not an egg.
