Specters

We managed to walk for two hours in the TPSNR Extension today, in the process happening on two unusual views of the eponymous pines. One tree, midway along the Margaret Fleming trail, is a survivor of a lightning strike. Up close its wound's a sap bejeweled stalactite cavern.

The other, spotted on the Daughters of the American Revolution Trail, looked initially like some kind of distrurbing Sasquatch-like apparition.
On closer inspection, it proved the sandstone-encrusted root of a toppled tree, a towering wraith in the bonefield of the beetle-felled.
