Remember Kurosawa Akira's great film "Rashomon"? I hadn't thought about it as one of the movies which structured my expectations regarding my experience with the court system, but it comes to mind now that deliberation has begun. I'm not thinking of the rather banal "Rashomon effect" but what has always struck as me as the most interesting thing about the film: the witnesses don't just all provide a different account of events. They also all plead guilty.
[Jury duty update: Got off to a late start deliberating, and will be continuing tomorrow, day 8!]
