I'm not usually in California this time of the year, so I wasn't prepared to find St. James Catholic Church awash in first communicants, little ladies - brides - and little gentlemen. (Each of the eighty-four had made a banner, like this one.)Well, in fact I wasn't completely unprepared. By marvelous coincidence, the announcement below had emerged from a trunk just this morning.
