Licensed!

Today was the day - hundreds of same-sex couples legally wed all over the state of New York! My friend C, court attorney in the Bronx, was with her judge among the court officials who volunteered to open shop today. As joyful teary couples of all kinds passed through - one had been together for nearly forty years, another for seven months - the judge asked them how they'd met, what it meant for each of them: moving answers all. Most brought witnesses; a mother of a groom who lived too far away to be there in person participated by speakerphone! To the question "why today?" couples said they didn't want to wait a day longer!
