Claes Oldenburg's spoon and cherry, over a frozen pond, by the Walker Art Center. Evidently this monster, inspired in part by the Betty Crocker spoon logo, has become an icon of Minneapolis. I learned that, and much else, in a fascinating exhibition devoted to Oldenburg's early work in the 1960s, against the backdrop of which these megaliths - and all that preceded them - make a bit more sense.
