I read that botanists think there are three kinds of plants - herbs, shrubs and trees. Elsewhere - not in a book about trees! - I read it was just herbs and shrubs, with trees a subset of the latter. But then I found other places which list five categories, herbs, shrubs and trees joined by climbers and creepers. In this season, some climbers are the first to shed their chlorophyl, like trees wearing long red underwear...
