In a catalog in the seat pocket in the Shinkansen (Hammacher-Schlemmer Japan?), I discovered some things nobody should be without: a silver cross pendant which doubles as an emergency whistle, a jacket with built-in fans, and - a must have for all in the age of late capitalism - a vase which muffles your screams (also handy for karaoke training!).
