I've now walked the whole High Line - this is the view as the loop around the railyards at its north end prepares to turn southward. (See the Empire State Building in the middle?) The overgrown rails are lovely, but it seems the High Line is now mainly about watching construction. Once a kind of magic carpet ride flying above the West Side it's now densely hemmed in, feeling more like a walk along the bottom of a canyon of buildings. The plants, too, have grown, so there are few uninterrupted vistas left - catch this one while you can!
