The Times has an occasional series about art called "Close Read," which takes a single work of art and interactively shows you the world of its details, its global context, and its significance. The latest dives into a Mughal miniature at the Met: have a scroll! Appearing the same day (happenstance, most likely) as an Op-Ed about an Islamic inspiration for Robinson Crusoe and the European Enlightenment, it helps stitch together the more global, more interconnected history we know of in general but can enjoy best in the living particular.
