For our last day in these parts we checked out the island of Lamèque, whose main claim to fame is a church whose interior was repainted by a happy priest and some friends in 1969. Kids calls it the candy church, grown-ups think about what might have inspired such a psychedelic explosion of colors in 1969, and Saint Cecilia, patroness of the church, has been welcoming a classical music festival here since the 1970s - musique baroque, évidamment!
Another sight is the Parc écologique de la Péninsule acadienne. It was nice to learn about the Boreal forest and wetlands, apparently welcoming 270 species of migrating birds each year! The park boasts a long walkway over wetlands, allowing a view of what the birds might see (we were there during low tide).
