Early summer buds
Not much to report around here. (You should thank me for not going on at great length about the Cole Inquiry, which confirmed that the leadership of the Australian Wheat Board paid kickbacks of three hundred million dollars over seven years to the régime of Saddam Hussein in order to stay the main exporter to Iraq - this during and despite UN sanctions against Iraq - all without any member of the Australian government noticing it!) The southern hemisphere's perverse need shift into summer at this time of year proceeds apace, with trees blooming everywhere - imports like the originally Brazilian jacaranda at right and presumably native things like the orange-blossomed tree above. A tall glossy magnolia near the Old Quad has started opening its giant flowers. Strawberries and cherries have arrived in the supermarkets!
