Cosí fan tutti
The Cosí at 13th St. and Sixth Ave. just closed, just a few weeks after Six & Twelve (at 12th and Sixth) closed its doors. Is it just the restless cycle of New York's retail bust and boom, or connected to the larger global economic downturn that people on the news are starting to use the R-word for, often with frightening adjectives like "deep" and "prolonged," though usually still preceded by hopeful "what's looking like" or "what's turning into." It's been a long time since we had a serious recession; do they always feel like a wooden building turning out to be moldy and termite-addled through and through - is anything secure? Or is it the special rot of seven years of Bushian sleeping at the wheel?
